| GALINA CHAKALOVA, ANTON KARAGIOZOV, TOSHO KURLOV, MARIA POPOVA |
Eighteen patients with mixed malignant Mullerian tumours of the uterus underwent treatment and related follow-up from 1976 to 1988. Nine patients had homologous, and the other nine-heterologous tumors. The patients’ average age was 58. Six women had Stage I, three Stage II, six Stage Ill and three Stage IV. Fifteen patients had radical surgery. Three were not operated on. Ten patients had post-operative radiation therapy or chemotherapy, and three had only radiation therapy. Four patients had a survival span from 36 to 84 months. Nine women (50%) died during the first year after the initial diagnosis. Six women (33.3%) had two-and three years survival rates. Three women (16.6%) lived five and more years. Prognostic factors include the stage of the disease and the size of the uterus in particular, radical surgery, histological type of the tumour and the patient’s age and parity.
